The Wehrung House stands proud on the corner, flanked on either side by its newer counterparts.  The historic house, with its intricate detail and wonderfull porches is made stronger by keeping both new phases clean and simple in their detailing and massing.

Phase 1 consists of an existing single family house, The Historic Wehrung Residence built in 1892, and new addition to the rear. The original house is used as bedrooms for the homeless (10 beds in all) and the small addition was added to provide the more functional and requirements like a new kitchen and ADA bathrooms.  A clear seperation from the historic house to the new was made via a glassed in breeze way between the two structures.

Phase 2 has 15 beds, 3 great rooms for relaxation, 5 full baths and a small kitchenette for fixing simple meals and snacks.

The overriding goal was to provide a place of residence for people in need of assistance.  For proper health and healing, a sense of comfort and home, not institution, had to be maximized.
